COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Freshman Carrie Hanks of the Maryland field hockey team will head to Toronto this weekend to play with the U.S. National Indoor Team in the Four Nations Tournament.
Hanks and Team USA will open the tournament against South Africa at 2:30 p.m. ET. The U.S. will play Canada's 'A' Team on Saturday at 1 p.m., then Argentina Sunday at 8 a.m. The third place game and championship match will be later on Sunday.
Hanks is currently on the U.S. Under-19 Team and this marks her first time representing Team USA at the Senior level.
“I'm really eager to see the different styles of indoor hockey that the other three nations in the tournament play and to gauge our team's level of indoor against international competition. I'm so excited to play,” Hanks said.
Carrie is one of Maryland's most technical players,” Maryland head coach Missy Meharg said. “Her 1v1 skills and tactical instances make her a huge addition in the indoor game. On behalf of Maryland we wish Carrie and Team USA all the best with competition against South Africa, Argentina and Canada.”
