Marketing Assistant

The University of Maryland is seeking qualified applications for the position of Marketing Assistant. The position will work as a member of the ICA marketing staff, assisting the Senior Director of Marketing with developing creative marketing programs and activities which cultivate interest and support from University groups, the community, and local businesses for the University's athletic department. This individual will oversee marketing initiatives, ticket sales and game production for various Olympic Sports, as assigned, with a key focus on maximizing ticket revenue, increasing fan attendance and enhancing the Maryland brand. Additionally, this individual will assist with marketing operations and group sales for Football, Men's Basketball and Women's Basketball; Manage the planning, solicitation, and fulfillment of off-premise ticket sales; Oversee charitable donation requests; Assist with the supervision of student workers; And assist with various other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Marketing. This is a 12-month position that begins June 1, 2014, with a salary of $17,000. This position does not include benefits.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in sports administration, marketing, advertising or other related field. Must have at least 1 year of marketing experience, preferably in a collegiate athletics environment. Must have strong written and oral communication skills, and be able to formulate and implement marketing and promotional strategies to effectively sell athletic programs. Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
