Solomon Eye Terp of the Week: Sarah Sprink

Each week during the 2014-15 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is junior Sarah Sprink of the Maryland field hockey team.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior captain Sarah Sprink of the second-ranked Maryland field hockey team has been named the Solomon Eye Terp of the Week for her impressive performance on both ends of the field in helping the Terps to 3-0 wins over Drexel and No. 16 Temple last weekend.

Sprink notched five points off two goals and an assist between the two games. Against the Dragons, she fed it to freshman Moira Putsch for the Terps' second goal off a penalty corner. With under 14 minutes to play, she scored herself with a hard shot off another corner. In the game against Temple, Sprink banged in the Terrapins' final goal for the 3-0 lead in the 51st minute.

The defender also helped the Terrapins' defense to the shutouts. In Sunday's match, the Terps were without center back Rachel Frusher, and Sprink helped the defensive unit make the change seamlessly.

Sprink was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday. Next, she will help lead the Terrapins in their first-ever Big Ten conference game. They will take on No. 15 Northwestern Saturday at noon ET in Evanston, Ill.
