Terps Finish Fourth at Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. - The Maryland women's golf team posted a season-low third round score of 285 to finish tied for fourth at the Pinehurst Challenge Tuesday.

The team's third round score was the lowest in the field. Panitta Yusabai, Ludovica Farina and Ludovica Scandroglio led the Terps with a 20th place finish in the individual standings. Farina matched her team-best 69 in third round action en route to a 218 (77-72-69). Yusabai and Scandroglio were also two-over with a 74-71-73 and a 75-72-71, respectively.

Heidi Baek tied for 29th with a 218 (75-72-72) and Brooke Kochevar finished with a 232 after notching a 77 in the third round Tuesday.

“I'm proud of how our team fought today. We had the lowest round since I started coaching at Maryland yesterday afternoon and then to come back today and improve yet again is very satisfying as a coach but mainly I'm just so happy for our players,” head coach Diana Cantu said. “Shooting under par as a team two rounds in a row isn't easy and I think this tournament will be a big boost of confidence for us as we gear up for our last event of the fall season in two weeks."

The Terps return to action Oct. 24 when they travel to the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C.
