LANCASTER, Pa. – Three former members of the Maryland field hockey team competed with the U.S. Senior National Team in a four-game series with Argentina at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Lancaster, Pa. this week.
After ties in the first three matches in the series against Argentina, the U.S. took the fourth and final match, 2-0, Wednesday night. Former Terrapins Ali McEvoy, Katie O'Donnell and Jill Witmer all helped Team USA to the match and series victory.
Anna Dessoye, Alyssa Parker, Delaney Leathers, Moira Putsch and incoming Terrapin Linnea Gonzalez all played for the U.S. Under-21 Team in a successful four-game series vs. Canada this week as well. Gonzalez, the youngest player on the team, led the way with eight goals scored in the four-game series.
The U.S. won the first match last Thursday, 6-1, with a hat trick from Gonzalez, followed by a 4-3 win on Friday with another two scores by the Terrapin freshman. Team USA won 3-1 Sunday, then took the final match, 6-1, Monday with another hat trick from Gonzalez.
