AUGUSTA, Ga.—The Maryland women's golf team opened up the spring portion of its schedule with a total score of 310 for eighth place in the team standings through day one in the 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate at Forest Hills Golf Club.
The three-day tourney began with round-one action today, Friday March 13. Senior Juliet Vongphoumy led the way for the Terps, shooting a 74 (3-over), sitting tied for 10th place in the individual field.
Junior Heidi Baek shot a 76 (5-over) for the Terps and currently sits tied for 16th place in the individual field.
Nancy Xu, of Columbia University, leads the tournament after shooting a 70 (1-over), but Kennesaw State currently sits in first place in the team field, followed by GRU Augusta and Furman.
The three-day tourney will continue tomorrow with round two beginning at 9:30 a.m. Maryland—under the helm of first-year head coach Diana Cantu, is led by Vongphoumy, who had three top-10 finishes and four top-20 finishes during the fall season.
