Terps Finish Strong at Briar's Creek Invitational

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. - The Maryland women's golf team shot its tournament-best 302 in the third and final round Tuesday as the Terps wrapped up action at the Briar's Creek Invitational.

Heidi Baek led the Terps once again on Tuesday, shooting her best score of the tournament with a 71 in the third. Baek finished tied for 12th with a 219.

“Heidi played really well this week. She did a great job of staying patient throughout her rounds and she was able to finish strong after tough starts,” head coach Diana Cantu said. “She is feeling more confident with the practice that we have done and I'm proud of her improvements."

Juliet Vongphoumy tied for 26th and also shot her best round in the third, notching a 73 for a three-round score of 223.

"Juliet keeps being consistent with her score and tournament finishes,” Cantu said.

Panitta Yusabai (83rd – 242), Jessica Gregory (T87th – 245), and Brooke Kochevar (92nd – 249) also competed for Maryland in its second tournament of the spring season.

“It was nice to have a better third round. We still have much to improve and need to become more competitive,” Cantu said. “We are going to keep working on our games and keep gaining confidence for our next event in Mississippi.”

The Terps travel to the Ole Miss Rebel Classic in Oxford, Mississippi beginning April 4.
