Vongphoumy Leads Field on Day Two of B1G Champ

INDIANAPOLIS - Juliet Vongphoumy is tied for first place after finishing a spectacular second round Saturday at the Big Ten Women's Golf Championship Saturday at Fort Golf Resort.

Vongphoumy, a senior from Providence, R.I., posted a tournament-low, four-under par with a 68 on Saturday. Vongphoumy has a two-round score of 141 and is tied with Jan Chanpalangsri of Ohio State for the top spot in the championship.

The Terps jumped six spots to move up to seventh in the overall team standings. Maryland finished with a 294 Saturday, a 13-stroke improvement from the first round.

Heidi Baek recorded a 73 after notching a 79 on Friday to finish with a 152 and tied for 43rd. Jessica Gregory shaved a stroke off her first-round play with a 75 and boasts a 151 while tying for 32nd.

Brooke Kochevar was the fourth Terrapin to shave strokes of her first round score, nothing a 78 to tie for 63rd with a 157.

Panitta Yusabai and Alexandra Papell are tied for 74th with two-round scores of 162.

Maryland wraps up its first-ever Big Ten Championship Sunday morning for the final round from Fort Golf Resort.
