Terps Kick Off 2015 Maryland Pride Tour

FREDERICK, Md. – The 2015 Maryland Pride Tour kicked off Thursday as Maryland coaches and athletic department staff attended the Frederick Keys baseball game at Nymeo Field.

Men's basketball head coach Mark Turgeon and football head coach Randy Edsall threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Keys took on the Salem Red Sox.

Turgeon and Edsall were joined by volleyball head coach Steve Aird, wrestling head coach Kerry McCoy and tennis head coach Daria Panova.

The coaches greeted fans and signed autographs on the stadium's concourse for more than an hour. Over 350 fans attended the event to kick off the summer with the athletics department.

“It was a great night for baseball,” Turgeon said. “We really enjoyed being out and visiting with our fans in Frederick. The turnout was terrific.”

"It was my first time to the stadium,” McCoy added. “The fans were tremendous and it was nice to give back to the Frederick community who are so good about supporting us throughout the year.”

Leif and Sara Jackson, both graduates of the University of Maryland, attended the event with their 2-year-old son, Oliver. The Jacksons have been season ticket holders for three seasons at Maryland.

"It was great to meet the coaches in person," said Sara. "They were so down to earth and personable."

The Pride Tour continues June 5 at the Annapolis Marriott before moving to the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor on June 11. The tour concludes August 14 in Gaithersburg. Click here for a list of coaches scheduled to appear at each location and for more information.
