Vongphoumy Begins NCAA Regional Action Thursday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Juliet Vongphoumy is set to compete in the 2015 NCAA Women's Golf Regionals, beginning Thursday in Raleigh, N.C.

The Raleigh Regionals are set to kick off at Lonnie Poole Golf Course on the campus of NC State. The par- 72 course is 6,381 yards.

The last time a Terrapin competed in NCAA postseason play was in 2012 when the team qualified and participated in the NCAA East Regional at the Penn State Golf Courses in State College, Pa. Vongphoumy led the Terps, tying for 19th with a five-over par (221), including a tourney-low 68 in the first round.

Vongphoumy won the Mary Fossum Award as the conference player with the lowest stroke average relative to par this season and she tied for second at the Big Ten Women's Golf Championship at the Fort Golf Resort in Indianapolis. She finished tied for second in the tourney and was also tagged a First Team All-Big Ten selection.
