Maryland Pride Tour Lands in Baltimore

BALTIMORE – Terrapin coaches, student-athletes and athletic department staff met with fans at the Inner Harbor Marriott as the 2015 Maryland Pride Tour continued in Baltimore Thursday evening.

Head coaches addressed the audience about the importance of Baltimore fans to the athletic department, especially in the University's first year in the Big Ten. Coaches in attendance included Randy Edsall (football), Mark Turgeon (men's basketball), Brenda Frese (women's basketball), Missy Meharg (field hockey), Steve Aird (volleyball), Diana Cantu (women's golf), Daria Panova (women's tennis) and Jonathan Morgan (women's soccer). Director of athletics Kevin Anderson joined the coaches on the panel.

“Seeing the community come out and give us this support is great,” said Aird. “Baltimore is an important peg in this and to see a lot of people come out and have a good time and support our athletes, it's great for the department.”

After taking questions, the coaches and student-athletes mingled with fans, donors and alumni at the Marriott.

“I want Maryland to be proud of our product,” added Aird. “I want them to be proud of the team, and I want local players and kids to be a part of it.”

The Pride Tour concludes Friday, August 14, at the Smokey Glen Farm in Gaithersburg. For questions involving the Maryland Pride Tour, contact the Terrapin Club Scholarship Fund at 301-314-7020 or TerrapinClub@umd.edu.
