ROSEMONT, Ill. – Three members of the Maryland field hockey team were named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list Thursday. Seniors Anna Dessoye, Sarah Sprink and freshman Linnea Gonzales were the three Terrapins on the list.
Dessoye was named to the Big Ten Players to Watch List last year as well and made the All-Big Ten Second Team. She led the Terrapins with 19 assists last year and added 12 goals.
Sprink earned the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honor last season and was also named to the All-Big Ten First Team. She led Maryland in scoring last year with 16 goals.
Gonzales, a forward from Bel Air, Md., is a member of the U.S. Under-21 Team.

The Terrapins will host two exhibition events this weekend at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex that are both open to fans. The Terps will host their annual Red/White intra-squad scrimmage at noon Saturday and James Madison in an exhibition Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission and parking are free for both events.
Coming off of its Big Ten championship, Maryland will officially open the 2015 season Aug. 28 with a 3 p.m. game at Temple in the Conference Cup. The Terrapins will welcome Saint Joseph's to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex for their home opener Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. Temple will play Towson at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in the first game of the day at noon.
PRESEASON NOTES
Dessoye is one of six players to make this year's Big Ten Players to Watch list for the second or third time in her career.
The Terrapins have been in preseason since Aug. 10. They will enjoy time together as a team Thursday and Friday before their Red/White exhibition and Sunday's exhibition vs. James Madison.
