Terps to Meet Boston College in Quick Lane Bowl

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland football team will make its third bowl appearance in four years and 27th all-time when it meets Boston College in the 2016 Quick Lane Bowl on December 26 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

The game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff and will be televised nationally on ESPN. This will mark the 12th all-time meeting between the Terps and Eagles, who were both members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) from 2005-2014.

“We are excited to be selected to play in the Quick Lane Bowl,” said first-year head coach DJ Durkin. “Returning to the postseason is a big step in the upward trend of our program. I'm thrilled that our student-athletes, especially our seniors, will have the chance to play at Ford Field in Detroit and experience all of the special events that come with bowl week.”

This will mark Maryland's seventh bowl appearance in the last 11 seasons. The Terps have won five of their last eight bowl games.

Maryland concluded the regular season with a 6-6 record, including a 4-2 mark at home. The Terps started the year 4-0 and won five of their first seven games. After falling in three straight games to nationally-ranked teams, including a pair of matchups against Top 5 squads, Maryland defeated Rutgers, 31-13, in its season finale to garner bowl eligibility.

Boston College won its final two games of the regular season to also ended the year 6-6 overall.  The Eagles are led by their defense, ranking third in the ACC in sacks (39) and fifth in interceptions (11). A trio of BC defensive players were named All-ACC, including junior defensive end Harold Landry, who was named second team all-league.
