COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland will wrestle three duals in less than 48 hours this weekend when the team takes on North Dakota State and George Mason in Fairfax, Va. on Friday evening and Rutgers in College Park Sunday at noon. Maryland's match vs. Rutgers will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network and streamed on BTN2GO.
Terps in the polls
- Tyler Goodwin and Alfred Bannister both remained ranked in the InterMat Wrestling Individual rankings on November 22. Goodwin is tabbed as the #11 133-pounder in the country, while Bannister moved up to #12 in the 149-pound weight class.
- Goodwin and Bannister are also individually ranked via Track Wrestling (#15 and #7 respectively), TheOpenMat.com (#9 and #7 respectively), and Amateur Wrestling News (AWN) (#20 and #13 respectively)
- Goodwin was a 2013-14 NCAA qualifier and went 7-2 last year for the Terps, including his first two career Big Ten victories over Minnesota's Sam Brancale (F: 4:27) and Purdue's Cody Pae (Dec, 11-7). Goodwin's only losses a season ago came at the hands of eventual All-Americans.
A Look at the BISON
- The Bison have gotten off to a solid start in 2016, entering the weekend 3-2. NDSU knocked off then-#14 Iowa State in their dual match debut, and have notched wins over Northwestern and SIU Edwardsville.
- NDSU lost a controversial decision to Indiana on December 4, falling 18-17 on tiebreaker criteria 3 to Indiana after previously being awarded the match victory.
- The Bison have three wrestlers ranked inside the top-20 in their respective weight classes via InterMat Wrestling, including #5 Josh Rodriguez at 125 pounds.The redshirt senior is a two-time NCAA qualifier, and is currently undefeated this season.
- NDSU also sports ranked talent in the middle weights with 157-pounder Clay Ream (#9) and 165-pounder Andrew Fogarty (#19).

A LOOK AT THE Scarlet knights
- #12 Rutgers will wrestle its first dual match since going 1-1 at the Grapple at the Garden November 27. The Scarlet Knights were in action at the Journeymen Tussle on December 4 hosted by Hofstra, where 157-pounder John Van Brill knocked off two ranked opponents.
- The Scarlet Knights have four wrestlers slotted in the InterMat Wrestling rankings, including returning All-American Anthony Ashnault (141).
- There will be a potential matchup of ranked wrestlers at 149 pounds, as #12 Alfred Bannister and #15 Ken Theobold appear destined to clash on the mat.

SEASON OF FIRSTS
- Seven different Terps have earned their first career dual victories through Maryland's first four head-to-head matchups.
- Redshirt freshmen Danny Boychuck (157) and David-Brian Whisler (197) as well as redshirt sophomore Patrick Gerish all tallied their first victories at the Cavalier duals.
- Freshman Alex Vargas was next at Grapple at the Garden, taking out Ty Agaisse of Princeton. A trio of redshirt freshmen in Josh Ugalde (165), Sam Rowell (174) and Idris White (184) all won their first collegiate duals against Columbia to help UMD take out the Lions 30-9.
