Maryland Softball Signs Marisol Ramirez of Team IMPACT

COLLEGE PARK, Md.- Maryland softball head coach Julie Wright officially welcomed newest signee Marisol Ramirez to the squad through a draft day event on Tuesday. Ramirez, a 14-year-old from nearby Laurel, Md. who loves John Cena and Selena Gomez, was matched with the Terrapins through Team IMPACT, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing chronic illnesses.

“We're super excited about this experience,” said Wright. “It's the experience of a life time. I don't think you can get anything more special than this combination. The joy and happiness we're going to bring to Mari's life, and Mari is going to bring into ours is going to be incredible.”

Ramirez signed at an official draft day celebration on Tuesday night. The 14-year-old, was greeted by a thunderous ovation, got to sign her National Letter of Intent, answered questions at a press conference, and was given her very own jersey and locker. Marisol will be with the team at games, practices, and events all season long.
