JOHNS ISLAND, S.C.—The Maryland women's golf team had a strong final round to finish the 2016 Briar's Creek Invitational on a high note. The team ended the day with a final round score 294, which was a big improvement on the teams' first and second round scores of 306 and 303, respectively.
After finishing with the lowest scores for the Terps for both the first and second rounds, junior Alexandra Papell was good again on Tuesday morning, shooting the lowest round of any Terp for the tournament with a two-under 70. Papell finished the Briar's Creek Invitational with a score of 217 (73-74-70) and tied for 13th.
Fellow junior Panitta Yusabai had her low-round of the tournament on day three by shooting a one-over 73. Yusabai finished tied for 54th and tallied a final score of a nine-over 225 (76-76-73).
Freshmen Ludovica Farina and Ludovica Scandroglio also scored their best rounds of the tournament on Tuesday by shooting a 76 and 77, respectively. Farina finished tied for 61st at Briar's Creek and Scandroglio placed tied for 85th in the tournament field.
Senior Heidi Baek rounded out the tournament for the Terps by finishing 88th and shooting an overall tournament score of a 27-over 243 (81-78-84).
The Terps will be back out on the course again on Sunday, April 3, when they travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to compete in the Web.com Intercollegiate.
