INDIANAPOLIS—The Maryland women's golf team finished up the first round of the 2016 Big Ten Championship today. The team ended the day in 14^th place with an overall score of a 304.

The Terps were lead by junior Alexandra Papell, who shot an opening round 71 (-1). Papell has been the most consistent and productive player this spring season for the team. Papell finished the first round tied for 17^th.

Maryland also got good contributions from their freshman Ludovica Scandroglio during the opening round of the Big Ten Championship. Scandroglio shot a 73 (+1) and ended day one tied for 29^th.

Senior Brooke Kochevar placed third on the team, and finished the first round of the championship in 77^th place. She had an opening round score of 79 (+7).

Freshman Ludovica Farina and Senior Jessica Gregory ended the day in 81^st and 83^rd place, respectively.

The second round of the Big Ten Championship will begin tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.
