The Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition will support the Director of Sports Nutrition with all nutrition services provided to University of Maryland student-athletes. The Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition will be primarily responsible for providing nutrition education, counseling, and support to football student-athletes, coaches, and staff as well as Olympic Sports programs as determined by the Director. S/he will be responsible for all nutritional aspects for these individuals, team meal planning and medical nutrition therapy utilizing the latest scientific evidence and practical sports nutrition recommendations. S/he will coordinate all nutritional care as a member of a multidisciplinary sports performance team; as well as manage fuel stations, collaborating with food service vendors and developing nutritional presentations and perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field, and a minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Dietitian required. Must be a Registered Dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and possess a Certification/Licensure as required by the state of Maryland. Must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively with all members of the Performance Staff and other athletic department personnel. Must have the ability and willingness to work early mornings, evenings and weekends and travel to football competitions. Strong interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills required.
