COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland's student-athletes eclipsed the 3.00 benchmark for the spring semester earning a 3.093 grade point average. This is the first time in at least seven years that a semester GPA of over 3.00 has been posted, as reported by the Academic Support & Career Development Unit (ASCDU).
“This is a fantastic accomplishment for our student-athletes and reflective of the great strides being made academically while improving the overall student-athlete experience,” said Associate Athletic Director for Academic Support & Career Development Chris Uchacz. “It takes a village to provide our student-athletes with the support they deserve and I want to thank our ASCDU team, coaches, ICA staff and campus faculty/staff for coming together to earn such an awesome accomplishment”.
For the same spring semester, over 100 student-athletes were named to their respective college Dean's Lists, 124 student-athletes earned a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher, 15 earned a perfect 4.00, and over 50% earned a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher.
“We are very proud of our student-athletes and how they epitomize the true meaning of the term student-athlete,” said Uchacz.
