Solomon Eye Assoc. Terp of the Week: Gordon Wild

Each week during the 2016-17 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is Gordon Wild of the men's soccer team.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Sophomore forward Gordon Wild has been named Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week after scoring three goals in a pair of wins over Big Ten foes last week.

After scoring an early goal in an overtime win at Rutgers on Tuesday, Wild put two in the back of the net in a pivotal conference matchup with Penn State in front of nearly 6,000 fans Sunday night.

Wild's game-winning goal – his third this season – in overtime against the Nittany Lions came off a beautiful pass from fellow sophomore D.J. Reeves.

“I just want to do anything I can to help the team win games,” Wild said. “There is a reason we lead the Big Ten in assists and that is because we have so many guys who can distribute the ball well.”

Wild's eight goals through seven games in 2016 are more than any single Terrapin amassed the entire 2015 campaign.

A native of Cologne, Germany, Wild leads the Big Ten in goals (8) and points (17) and is third and fourth nationally in each category, respectively.
