Terps Head to Virginia for UVA Fall Invite

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland women's tennis team will continue its fall season in Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend as the Terps take part in the UVA Fall Invite.

Along with host Virginia, the Terps will be up against George Washington, Marshall, Old Dominion, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia Tech and Big Ten foe Michigan.

The tournament is an individual tournament, with three separate brackets for singles and doubles. There will also be a round-robin bracket featuring players from each team participating.

Maryland is coming off an impressive opening weekend at the Bedford Cup and Tribe Invitational. The Terps won multiple honors between the two tournaments as Caroline Williams and Arnelle Sullivan won the doubles bracket of the Bedford Cup, while freshmen Saya Usui and Katsiaryna Yemelyanenka teamed up to do the same at the Tribe Invitational. Cassandre Thebault also took home third place in the singles competition at the Tribe Invitational.

Action at the UVA Fall Invite will begin on Friday morning at 9 a.m. with teams playing the first round of the doubles tournament. Singles will take place Friday afternoon, and play over the weekend is slated to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.
