Terps Go Down at #2 Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. –Maryland (2-14, 0-9 B1G) ran into one of the top teams in the nation Sunday afternoon, going down 45-6 to #2 Penn State on the road.

The Penn State lineup showed why it's one of the most dangerous in the country, as the Nittany Lions picked up five straight falls from 149 to 184 pounds. PSU sports nine ranked wrestlers in total, and all nine tabbed victories to push the hosts to the team decision as the defending NCAA Champions remain undefeated (13-0, 9-0 B1G).

Maryland's lone win came in the 133-pound weight class, where redshirt senior Billy Rappo shocked the Rec Hall crowd with a second period fall over Tristan Law. Rappo held a 4-2 edge after a takedown and escape points, then caught the Nittany Lion redshirt freshman's legs and stuck him at 4:45. The win actually put Maryland ahead in the team score 6-5 at that point in the dual, before Penn State closed things out with eight consecutive wins.

Maryland will wrestle its final duals of the 2016-17 season next Saturday, February 18 when the team takes on Drexel and Rider on the road.
