The Assistant Video Coordinator (AVC) will assist in the production of creative video needs for Maryland Football to include: development and execution of weekly plans to highlight unique Maryland Football through video; film team functions and events throughout the year; produce weekly team highlight, recruiting, and motivational videos. Capture video and still headshots of prospects during official visits.
The Assistant Video Coordinator will also perform daily equipment checks and troubleshoot all audio, visual or technical concerning Gossett Football Team House and during road trips and bowl trips to ensure all equipment is functioning properly; film football practices and games; assist in the setup and support of team meeting rooms in Gossett Football Team House and during road and bowl trips. Travel with the football team for away trips and bowl games.
S/he will coordinate official visit technical needs with Video Coordinator; establish the annual calendar of video shoots and projects; and research and implement new video editing techniques, content management, and camera technologies.
The incumbent will assist the Video Coordinator in maintaining a workable library of game/highlight archives and routinely backup media and video projects, as well as maintain the inventory of all audio/video/technology equipment and related supplies.
The AVC will also support the hiring of student staff, and train student staff in creative video techniques and execution; assist in the coordination of student staff responsibilities; and perform other duties as assigned by the Video Coordinator, Director of Football Operations, Director of Player Personnel, and/or Head Football Coach.
Bachelor's degree in broadcasting, communication, technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will be considered.
One to (1) to two (2) years of experience in a multimedia environment to include: television, video, film production.
Experience with video software programs (e.g., XOX Thunder, DVSport Gameday, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Encoder, etc.)".
Experience in operating digital editing systems, a variety of video cameras and recording equipment, and an understanding of collegiate athletics.
Excellent communication and organizational skills in a high demand/pressure-filled environment.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented, high pressure environment.
Ability to comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University and its employees and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (the “NCAA”) and the Big Ten Conference (the “BIG10”).
Ability to work non-standard hours and travel to numerous athletic and related events.
Ideal candidate will have a worked within a National Football League program, Div. I, conference office with handling coaches video, post production projects.
Experience with basic audio techniques used in on-camera interviews and in voice over situations for post-production projects.
Experience choosing motivational style music that will appeal to a wide range of collegiate athletes.
Ability to provide information on needed upgrades of equipment and software for budgeting purposes.
