Donraadt Named B1G Freshman of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill.  –  Maryland field hockey freshman Bibi Donraadt was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week Monday for the second time this year.

Donraadt scored both the game-tying and game-winning goals in the Terps' 2-1 win over No. 17 Northwestern that also clinched a share of the Big Ten title.

After the Wildcats scored in the first 93 seconds, Donraadt and the Terrapins' attack kept pushing. In the 19th minute, she finished off a pass from Linnea Gonzales from the far post to tie the game. They stayed tied into the second half.

With under 3:00 to play, she took a pass from Kelee Lepage and slammed it in for the game-winning goal that also gave Maryland a share of the Big Ten title.

Donraadt earned her first weekly honor on Oct. 1. She is tied for second on the team with 10 goals so far this season.

Next, the Terrapins will open play in the Big Ten Tournament next weekend. The Terps will play either the 9-seed Michigan State or the 8-seed Indiana Sunday afternoon in College Park. Updated game time for Sunday and matchup information will be available on umterps.com. Full Big Ten Tournament information can be found here.
