COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Big Ten champion Maryland field hockey team (19-2) earned the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and will host Albany (16-4) Friday at noon in College Park in the NCAA First Round.

Rutgers (13-5) and Connecticut (18-3) will meet in the First Round in College Park at 2:30 p.m. The winners of Friday's games will meet in the Second Round Sunday afternoon at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex as well.

This marks Maryland's 24
th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, which is the longest active streak in the country, dating back to 1995. The Terrapins are 60-22 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, with the highest winning percentage of any team at 73.2 percent. Head coach
Missy Meharg has the highest NCAA Tournament winning percentage of all active Division I coaches at 72.7 percent, with a record of 53-21.

No. 2 Maryland beat No. 8 Iowa, 2-1, Sunday in a windy and wet Big Ten Tournament championship game at Northwestern's Lakeside Field.

With the win, Maryland has now won 12 conference tournament titles and 25 conference championships, including regular season titles. The Terps clinched their 24
th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, dating back to 1995.

Bibi Donraadt doubled the Terps' lead just over 6:00 into the second half. Senior
Linnea Gonzales passed her the ball at the top of the circle and Donraadt sent in a reverse chip shot to make it 2-0.
