TUCUMAN, Argentina -- Former and current members of the Maryland field hockey team recently finished playing in series in Argentina with the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Under-21 National Team.

Current Terrapins Brooke DeBerdine, Linnea Gonzales, Kelee Lepage and Madison Maguire played with the Under-21 Team in a three-game test series in Argentina last week. Gonzales served as team captain. Lepage scored to tie the game for the U.S. in the second game. Click here for more on the series. 

"As we conclude our tour to Argentina, we look back and are proud of how we played," Gonzales said. "We started off a bit rough as we got our nerves out, but quickly progressed after each game. It was not only exciting to experience international competition with this U-21 group and see everyone grew, but also to compete against such a high level team and learn from their style of play. I am proud of how everyone evolved on this tour, we lived up to our team acronym of “GROW."

Former Terrapin Jill (Witmer) Funk competed with the National Team in a five-game series that counted as part of the final evaluation period for the team that will be selected to represent Team USA. Click here for more on the series.

Terrapins Brooke DeBerdine, Lizzy Dessoye, Linnea Gonzales, Kyler Greenwalt, Carrie Hanks, Sarah Holliday, Layne Litsinger, Sabrina Rhodes, and Kasey Tapman were invited to compete in USA Field Hockey's Young Women's National Championship June 25-29 at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Lancaster, Pa. The Young Women's National Championship serves as a high-level, international structured competition which is a selection avenue to Junior National Camp and an opportunity for selection to the 2018-19 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team and U.S. Women's National Development Team.
