BOWIE, Md. – Maryland basketball assistant coach Kevin Broadus was inducted into the Bowie State University Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony held last month. Broadus was among 10 Bulldog alumni to receive the distinction in the University's fifth annual induction ceremony.
"I am truly humbled, excited and thankful to be enshrined in the Bowie State Hall of Fame," said Broadus. "I made so many lifelong friendships here. Playing at Bowie State taught me how to grind, work hard and appreciate everything you have in life."
Broadus was a three-year letterman for the Bulldogs and a two-time team captain from 1985-88. He was a 1,000 point scorer over the course of his career and was a CIAA All-Rookie Team selection. Broadus's Bowie State experience helped launch his 20+ year coaching career, which started with the Bulldogs as an assistant coach for two seasons.
Broadus would go on to coach at District of Columbia, American, George Washington, Binghamton and Georgetown before spending his first season with the Terps in 2017-18. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Bowie State in 1990 before earning his Master's in Counseling at the University of District of Columbia in 1995.
