PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Maryland volleyball team battled back from two sets down, securing a 26-24 win in the third set and 25-23 win in the fourth, but ultimately fell in five sets to Princeton, 3-2.
The match featured a lot of extended rallies, with Maryland securing 104 digs as a team. Freshman libero
Allegra Rivas totaled 32 digs, the most by a Terp in over five years, since Sarah Harper had 34 against UMKC on September 6, 2013. A trio of sophomore's, defensive specialist/libero

Erika Pritchard combined for another 43 digs to add to the Maryland total.

Liz Twilley led Maryland with 16 kills, Alford tied her career-best with 50 assists and redshirt sophomore middle blocker
Katie Myers posted seven blocks as part of Maryland's season-best 12.
Maryland hit below .100 in the first two sets to fall 18-25 and 20-25. The Terps fought back to win two tightly contested sets in the third and fourth.
Twilley catapulted the Maryland comeback, totaling 10 combined kills in the third and fourth sets while the Maryland defense held strong to limit the Tigers. The third set was tied at 24 before a freshman middle blocker
Rainelle Jones kill and Princeton attack error to seal it. The fourth set ended with a kill from sophomore middle blocker
Jada Gardner.
The fifth set was close throughout with Maryland battling off two match points at 14-12 with kills form Pritchard and Gardner. Princeton secured the last two points of the match to take it 16-14.
Maryland completed their non-conference slate with a 9-3 record, with all three losses coming in five sets. The Terps will open up Big Ten play this week with two matches, the opener against Rutgers on September 19 at 7:00 p.m. before traveling to #7 Minnesota on September 22 for a 7:30 ET match.
