COLLEGE PARK, Md.  – The Maryland field hockey squad (16-3) earned its 25
th straight NCAA Tournament bid Sunday night. The Terrapins will take on Saint Joseph's (17-3) Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.

The Terrapins' streak of 25 straight NCAA appearances is the longest active streak in the country, dating back to 1995. This is the Terps' 32
nd overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Virginia (16-4) will take on Delaware (16-3) Friday at noon, with the winning teams advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals Sunday afternoon.

Maryland advanced to the NCAA Championship game in the last two seasons. The Terrapins own a record of 63-23 (.733) in the NCAA Tournament and a record of 59-22 (.728) under head coach
Missy Meharg.

The Terrapins have advanced to 19 Final Fours, including the last two, and have won eight NCAA titles (1987, 1993, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011).

Maryland dropped a tight, one-goal match at Penn State Friday in the Big Ten Semifinals. The Nittany Lions scored in the opening period, then Maryland's numerous chances fell just short.

Maguire was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and Keus was voted Defensive Player of the Year by the league's head coaches. Maguire, Keus and DeBerdine were named to the All-Big Ten First Team.
