COLLEGE PARK, Md. --Â Each week during the 2018-19 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is Virunpat Olankitkunchai of the women's golf team.
Â
SophomoreÂ
Virunpat Olankitkunchai finished tied for fifth in the Big Ten Championships Sunday at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio. She was named to the All-Championship Team.
Â
Olankitkunchai and juniorÂ
Xiaolin Tian entered Sunday's second and final round one stroke over par and two strokes off the individual lead. Both shot a 73 in the first round Friday, then Saturday's second round was cancelled due to poor weather conditions. Olankitkunchai shot a 69 Sunday and finished with a score of 142, which was two strokes under.
Â
She picked up her sixth top 10 finish on the year. Olankitkunchai's career scoring average is 72.61, which is currently the lowest in program history. That mark breaks the record set by Tian, anotherÂ
Diana Cantu recruit, last season at 73.08.
