Senior Associate Athletics Director, Administration

The Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration assumes day-to day responsibilities for facilitating and streamlining projects and tasks, advancing and advocating directives on behalf of the Director of Athletics.
 
A successful Sr, Associate AD for Administration will serve as a tactical senior leader within the department, possess a keen attention to detail, is data driven, and has excellent written and oral communication skills. S/he assumes efficient deployment of resources and that high standards and timelines are maintained on the department's various projects and initiatives. This position may also often handle the oversight of projects that do not neatly fit within a specific area and require pulling together and managing teams that involve input from multiple departments. The Sr. Associate AD for Administration will be responsible for coordinating the agenda and action plan for Leadership and Management Team meetings, including tracking of follow-up items. To ensure efficiencies, avoid conflicts and maximize scheduling, this position will spearhead the development, dissemination and upkeep of a Master Calendar for the Leadership Team. S/he will also be responsible for the coordination, preparation and management of special staff and student-athlete events. The Sr. Associate AD for Administration will represent Maryland Athletics on various campus committees and collaborate with campus partners surrounding the coordination of relevant projects and events.
 
Annually, this position will coordinate the programming and logistics for the Leadership Team's retreat, including any subsequent follow-up items. Each fiscal year, the department produces a Year in Review report to be disseminated to stakeholders. S/he will lead the charge in collecting data, compiling information, crafting messaging and producing the final report. The Sr. Associate AD for Administration will also assist with strategic planning and be responsible for drafting internal policies and procedures that enhance operations, including oversight of master Policy and Procedures manual.
 
Serving as a special assistant to the Director of Athletics and Deputy AD, the Sr. Associate AD for Administration takes great pride in delivering exceptional customer assistance. To contribute toward operational productivity and efficiency, s/he will be a clearinghouse for many incoming requests to the department and is a liaison to a variety of stakeholders and interested parties. The Sr. Associate AD for Administration also assists in the strengthening of key stakeholder relationships, contributing cultivation and stewardship of donors and prospects.
 
The Sr. Associate AD for Administration reports to the Deputy AD and serves on the department's Leadership and Management Teams. S/he will assist with the coordination of all head coach and executive searches in addition to organizing training and professional development for staff. This position will also serve as a sport supervisor for selected teams and is also responsible for the Leadership Team's Administrative Assistant and other direct reports as assigned.
 
Master's degree required. Must have a minimum of 5 -7 years of experience as a senior level administrator in intercollegiate athletics at a NCAA Division I institution. Must possess an in-depth understanding of the dynamics and complexity of NCAA, Division I intercollegiate athletics with regard to administration, sport supervision, as well as the numerous external constituents. Excellent written and verbal communications skills as well as organizational skills to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines. Demonstrated supervisory experience required. Impressive interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse organization. Ability to ensure program compliance with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University and its employees and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (the "NCAA") and the Big Ten Conference. Master's degree in Sport Administration, Education, Business Management or related field preferred. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible managerial experience at a NCAA Division I Power-5 institution in overall athletic operations, Knowledge of NCAA policies, practices and reporting requirements is strongly preferred.
