COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Each week during the 2019-20 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is freshman
Courtney Wyche from softball.
Wyche went 3-0 on the weekend with two wins and one save at the Eagle Round Robin. In a total of 13.0 innings pitched, she only gave up five hits and three runs, while recording 22 strikeouts when in control of the circle.
In the circle for all seven innings, Wyche recorded 15 strikeouts in the 1-0 win over Evansville, including a game-sealing strikeout with a full count in the top of the seventh inning against the Aces. It was the highest amount of strikeouts for a Maryland player since 2011, when Ashley Czechner had 16 against Hampton University.
She harbored a team-leading ERA of 1.62 on the weekend.Â
Maryland will travel to Tempe, Arizona this weekend to face off against Arizona State, Southern Utah and Wisconsin for the Sun Devil Classic Feb. 28- Mar. 1.
