EVANSTON, ILL – Olivia Stone scored the game's only goal in the 59th minute as Northwestern (2-1) held off Maryland (0-2-1) Sunday afternoon at Ryan Field House.
Kennedy Tolson turned in a solid performance for the Terps in goal, making a career-high five saves including several diving stops to keep Maryland's comeback hopes alive.
Maryland finished with eight total shots, with their best chance coming in the 46th minute after the Terps earned a free kick on the right wing. Anissa Mose played a arcing cross into the box which found the head of Alyssa Poarch, but her attempt carried wide left and Northwestern escaped the danger.   Â
Maryland will be back in action this week against Ohio State on March 4 to kickoff a five-game home stand.
