COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland softball was defeated by Michigan State 2-0 for their first game of the series on Friday, but bounced back against the Spartans in a walk-off win to run rule them in five innings, 9-1. Maryalnd has split all doubleheaders so far this season.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- GAME 1
- Michigan State came out strong in the first inning, scoring two runs on three hits to put them up 2-0 against the Terps in the top of the frame
- Maryland battled it out on defense, holding the Spartans to their two runs throughout the remainder of the game, but couldn't answer on offense
- The Terps recorded five total hits from Regan Kerr, Taylor Okada, and Jaeda McFarlandÂ
- Sophomore pitcher Courtney Wyche pitched her fourth complete game of the season, allowing only two runs on three hits and recorded three strikeoutsÂ
- GAME 2
- Maryland was first to get on the board in the bottom of the first, with a double from McFarland putting her on base, eventually making it back around after taking advantage on two proceeding ground ballsÂ
- The Terps put on a show in the bottom of the thrid, recording four runs on four hits from McFarland (triple), Okada (double), Campbell Kline (single) and Kerr (triple) to put the Maryland up 5-0
- The Spartans added a run of their own in the following frame to bring things to 5-1
- With McFarland on third and JoJo McRae on second, a single from Okada allowed both Terps to come home and bring the lead to six after four inningsÂ
- In the bottom of the fifth, a triple from Ruby Butler brining Kerr home and single from Taylor Liguori allowed a walk-off win for the Terps in five innings

Maryland will face Michigan State for another doubleheader on Saturday, April 10 beginning at 2:00 PM to round out the series.Â
