The Senior Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing Strategy and Fan Experience will manage the day-to-day operations of the unit and be under the direct supervision of the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations. This position will oversee the marketing plan development and implementation for multiple sports programs – including Football and Men's Basketball – with a key focus on maximizing ticket revenue and increasing fan attendance; Lead creation and strategic placement of all traditional marketing including radio, television, billboards, website and direct mail; Develop digital marketing and social media advertising strategies across campaigns with an emphasis on revenue generation and brand awareness; Drive creative content creation (video, graphic design, etc.) and campaigns based on consumer and market insights that enhance the Maryland Athletics brand and generate new revenue opportunities; Ensure consistency in execution of marketing initiatives – across various sport programs and consumer touch points; Collaborate with the Athletic Ticket Office and the fan relationship management center (FRMC) to develop pricing strategies and packages, ticket sales campaigns and identify new prospects; Collaborate with data analyst to make data-driven decisions utilizing advertising analytics and implement marketing automation campaigns; Coordinate and negotiate all media partner trade contracts; Manage unit budget, placing an emphasis on ROI; Direct all on-campus marketing initiatives and relationships. Lead the creation and implementation of department "values" campaigns. Serve on "Share the Shell" community engagement committee and contribute accordingly. Additional responsibilities include: Direct oversight of Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience, Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience, and Graphic Designer; Serve on Brand Communications Leadership Team and Management Team; Serve as athletic department liaison to the Mighty Sound of Maryland; and perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in sports management, marketing, advertising or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of sports marketing experience is required. Experience marketing a men's
basketball or football program is also required and at least three (3) years of supervisory experience. Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Photoshop. Must be able to work flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends.
Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of sports marketing experience preferably at the NCAA Division I or professional sports level. Experience marketing an NCAA men's basketball or football program also preferred.
