COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Maryland softball team dropped a 6-2 decision to the UMBC Retrievers in its home opener at the University Of Maryland Softball Complex on Wednesday afternoon. The Terps (10-12) collected just three hits on the afternoon and batted .111 with runners in scoring position.
Trinity Schlotterbeck started on the mound for Maryland, going 3.1 innings while surrendering five hits and four runs.
Courtney Wyche finished up in the circle, going 3.2 innings and allowing two runs on seven hits.
Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth,
Mackense Greico got the Terps on the board with an RBI single, scoring
Megan Mikami. Their second run of the day came on a Mikami groundout that scored
Regan Kerr.
UMBC scored the first four runs of the game, with the Retrievers scoring two apiece in the second, fourth, and sixth innings.
