Maryland Softball Falls to Charlotte, 5-2

CHARLOTTE, NC — Down to their last out, Taylor Okada roped one up the middle and dashed toward first as Regan Kerr trotted home, scoring Maryland's second run.

But it was too little, too late for the Terrapins (9-7). Maryland softball snapped its five-game win streak on Friday evening, dropping a 5-2 decision to Charlotte (16-3) .

Trinity Schlotterbeck made the start for head coach Mark Montgomery's squad. The junior lasted 4.2 innings, collecting three strikeouts and surrendering all five of the 49ers' runs.

Breaking Down The Action
  • Charlotte drew first blood in the bottom of the third, when Bailey Vannoy hit a sacrifice fly that scored Anna Devereaux.
  • Ella Chancey blasted one over the right-field wall in the bottom of the fourth.
  • Madelyn Wright roped a 3-run homer in the fifth.
