Offensive Outburst Pushes No. 8 Maryland Past No. 12 Princeton, 19-9

PRINCETON, NJ – Led by five goals apiece from Aurora Cordingley and Hannah Leubecker, the No. 8 Terps defeated No. 12 Princeton, 19-9 on Wednesday evening.

"Tonight was a great game for us against a really good team," said head coach Cathy Reese. "We started a little slow and had to claw our way back and I'm really happy of how we did that. We focused on taking things one play at a time and it was one of the more complete games we've played all year. They are a great team that challenged us all over the field. Overall, a very good night for the Terps.

Maryland fell behind 3-0 early in the contest before scoring nine of the last 11 goals of the half and 19 of the last 25 in the game to win handedly.

Cordingley picked up her 50th goal of the season while leading the Terps with seven points.

Emily Sterling had another fantastic game in goal, notching 10 saves and only allowing nine goals, her fourth straight game with over a 50-percent save percentage. Maryland won 18 of 31 draw controls led by nine from Shaylan Ahearn and seven from Abby Bosco.

Eloise Clevenger, Libby May and Grace Griffin all also had two goals to lead the offensive effort where Maryland outscored Princeton 16-6 after the first quarter.

The Terps are now 6-0 on the road this season and move to 4-1 against top-15 teams. Maryland will head to Ohio State on Sunday afternoon to face the Buckeyes. The game will begin at noon and air on the Big Ten Network.
