Eight In A Row: No. 23 Terps Trounce Fairfield, 11-0

LYNCHBURG, VA No. 23 Maryland extended their win streak to eight with a doubleheader sweep over Fairfield on Friday, beating the Stags 11-0 in six innings in the second game. The eight-game win streak is the longest since Maryland won 13 games in a row in 2011. The Terps are now 17-4 overall. 

Jaeda McFarland smashed two home runs and drove in a career-high six RBIs in the win as she went 3-for-3. Kiley Goff went 2-for-2 with four runs scored and two RBIs. The four runs scored are a new career-best. Goff also stole two bases for the first time this season. Amelia Lech hit her eighth homer of the season and second of the day. 

Trinity Schlotterbeck and Kyra Pittman combined for a shutout. Schlotterbeck allowed just three hits while striking out three. She is now 8-1 on the season with five complete games and three shutouts. 

Taylor Liguori also went 3-for-4 with an RBI to equal her career-high in hits.  Michaela Jones went 2-for-4 in the win. 

Fairfield is 3-7 overall.

  • Maryland took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, on a double-steal scoring Goff
  • Jaeda McFarland extended the Maryland lead to four runs at 4-0 in the second inning with a three-run home run.

  • 8: Lech hit her eighth homer of the season. That is already tied for 14th most in a season in Maryland history. Lech is the first Terp since Skylynne Allazar in 2018 to hit eight homers in a season.
