COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior guard Tiffany Brown scored 14 second-half points on
Saturday afternoon to lead four double-figure scorers and guide Maryland to a 66-57 non-
conference women's basketball victory over Robert Morris.
Maryland, 6-2 as compared to an 0-8 beginning last season, finished an eight-game
homestand. The Terrapins overcame cold shooting and a sluggish start to turn back the
Colonials, 2-4, and win their fifth game in the last six outings. Overall, Maryland shot 36 percent
to just 33 percent for the visitors.
Brown entered the game as the Terps' leading scorer, but was shut out until a 3-pointer beat
the buzzer at halftime to stake Maryland to a 31-22 lead. She twice hit 3-point baskets in the
second half to lift the Terps to 11-point margins. Brown dished to Branka Bogunovic for a 48-35
lead, and Cara Ferris' bucket with 10:45 to play capped a seven-point run to give Maryland its
largest lead, 50-35.
Robert Morris cut the lead to seven with 2:27 remaining on a trey by Mysty Bekavac, but five
free throws by Brown and four by Deedee Warley in the final two minutes helped secure
Maryland's sixth win of the season, matching its entire total from 1998-99.
Brown finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Warley had 14 points, March? Strickland added 11 and Bogunovic had 10. Freshman guard Vicki Brick had six points with nine boards, five assists and four steals.
Leading the Colonials was center Elise James who recorded game-highs of 18 points and 14
rebounds. RMC guards Sarah Grazier and Bekavac each netted a pair of 3-pointers and scored
10 points. The Colonials made six 3-point baskets and shot 37 percent behind the arc to help
keep the game close.
