COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Junior forward Regina Tate shot 7 of 9 from the floor and scored 15 points on Sunday afternoon to pace four double-figure scorers and lead Georgia Tech to a 73-67 Atlantic Coast Conference road victory over Maryland. Tech outdueled the Terrapins in a battle of ACC fourth-place teams, outlasting Maryland despite a flurry of last-minute 3-pointers by sophomore March? Strickland.

Tate scored 11 of her 15 while shooting 5 of 6 from the floor in the first half. As a team, the Yellow Jackets shot 59 percent in the opening 20 minutes while jumping to a 34-22 lead at the intermission. Georgia Tech (11-7, 4-4 ACC) pushed its lead to 14 to open the second half. Three times, Maryland cut the margin to eight, and each time the Jackets answered by pushing the margin back to 14.

After Maryland's Vicki Brick hit a driving layup to narrow the margin to 51-42 with 7:32 remaining, Jamie Kruppa helped direct an 11-0 run to post the Yellow Jackets to a 62-42 lead and seemingly put the game away. Kruppa scored six points during the run while finishing with 14 overall, all in the second half. She added a game-high 12 rebounds, but it nearly wasn't enough as Strickland, remarkably, almost single-handedly brought the Terps back into contention.

Strickland, who finished with a career-high 32 points, drained five consecutive 3-pointers in a 65-second span to end the contest and bring Maryland (11-7, 3-5) as close as it had been since late in the first half.

After missing her first three attempts behind the arc, Strickland hit her first of the game with 4:54 remaining to cut Tech's lead to 62-45. The Jackets maintained their 17-point advantage until 1:05 remained and Strickland made it 69- 55. Her third straight brought Maryland within 69-58 with 38 seconds remaining, and buried three more in between foul shots and timeouts to cut Georgia Tech's lead to 10, eight and finally six points with only :04 on the clock. Georgia Tech hit four free throws in the final minute as Strickland scored 15 points of her own.

Overall, Strickland hit 11 of 17 shots including 6 of 9 from 3-point range. She scored 26 points in the second half on 8 of 9 shooting and all six treys.

Maryland freshman Renneika Razor came off the bench to score 10 points and pace the Terps with seven rebounds. Other double-digit scorers for Tech were Nina Barlin with 14 and Danielle Donehew with 10.
