Maryland Women Lose To No. 11 Duke, 90-74

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Alana Beard scored 25 of her 35 points in the first half - the fourth-highest total in Duke history - and the 11th-ranked Blue Devils beat Maryland 90-74 Wednesday night.

Iciss Tillis recorded her ACC-leading fifth double-double of the year with 20 points and 12 rebounds. She also had five of Duke's 12 steals.

Beard was 11-for-13 in the first half as the Blue Devils (11-3, 3-0 ACC) took an early lead and never faltered. She also had 11 rebounds.

Marche Strickland scored 17 points to lead the Terrapins (8-6, 1-2).

The Blue Devils shot 60 percent in the first half as they took a 52-34 lead into the dressing room. Duke led 27-18 midway through the first half before Krista Gingrich hit three consecutive 3-pointer to push the Duke lead to 16.

Renneika Razor had 16 points and Deedee Warley 14 for the Terrapins. Maryland shot 53 percent from the field but turned the ball over 20 times.
