BALTIMORE - The University of Maryland women's lacrosse team lost another tough one as it fell to fourth-ranked Loyola College, 7-4, on Saturday at Curley Field in Baltimore.

The loss was just the Terps' second ever to the Greyhounds and Maryland owns the lead in the all-time series, 22-2. The Terrapins' defense was among the best it has played all season, limiting Loyola to just seven goals, but the Terrapin offense struggled to find the net with a season-low for goals.

Loyola took a two-goal advantage within the first four minutes of play as Susan Tyrrell took a feed from Stacey Morlang at the 28:25 mark, which was followed by an Eyler free-position goal. Meredith Egan found the back of the net at 23:58 to put Maryland within one. The defenses of both teams took over until Morlang found Talia Shacklock to give Loyola a 3-1 lead with 4:26 remaining in the first half. Less than a minute later, Maryland's Sonia Judd fired a shot past Dabrowski to end the half at 3-2.

Eyler gave Loyola a 4-2 boost at the 22:59 mark in the first half, recording her second goal of the game off a free-position shot. Maryland's top scorer Courtney Hobbs scored her only goal of the game two minutes later to put the Terps within one. Morlang fed her third assist of the game at the 13:06 mark to sophomore Jaclyn Borrone as Loyola regained its two-goal advantage. Maryland, again, retaliated off a fast break goal from Egan at 11:07. Loyola, however, won the draw and maintained possession as freshman Stephanie Walker found Morlang in the center of the eight-meter at the 7:34 mark. Eyler notched her third goal of the game after beating four defenders on a fast-break with 2:48 remaining in the game.

The Terps, who fall 9-9 (0-3 ACC) on the season, outshot the Greyhounds, 23-21, and won seven of 13 draw controls. Egan led Maryland with two goals, while Judd and Hobbs scored a goal apiece. Goalkeeper Alexis Venchanos had 11 saves.

Morlang recorded one goal and three assists for the Greyhounds who improve to 14-3 on the season. Eyler recorded three goals, two of which came from free-position shots, while Shacklock, Tyrrell and Borrone each scored a goal apiece.
