Women's Lax: Annie Collins Q & A

May 10, 2004

Terps Today (TT): Which teammate do you admire most?
Annie Collins (AC): Laura Warren because she's probably the most underrated player in the entire NCAA. She's the hardest worker I've ever seen and she never gets any recognition but she comes out every day ready to play.

TT: What's the best piece of advice you've ever gotten?
AC: Someone that I really look up to once told me that a good way to go through life was to always look for the best in people -- you never know what other people may be dealing with.

TT: If you could go anywhere and do anything, where would you go and what would you do?
AC: Something I've always wanted to do is travel the world and see each of the seven wonders. I know it sounds kind of boring, but I love stuff like that. I haven't had the chance to travel much in college, so hopefully in the next few years I'll get to visit some new places.

TT: What reality TV show would you most like to be on?
AC: Anyone who knows me knows about my slight obsession with Real World. I don't know if I'd ever really want to be on it, though; I couldn't deal with cameras in my eye 24/7. I think I'll just stick with watching it.

TT: What's your favorite Friends episode of all-time?
AC: I like the one when Ross is late for his speech and none of the other friends are ready. I think it's the funniest one I've ever seen.

TT: How do you order your Chipotle burrito?
AC: Chicken, vegetables, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and tons of hot sauce. My mouth is on fire by the end of it.

TT: What's your favorite quote from Coach Timchal?
AC: Do I have to pick just one? "Like a monkey holding on to a coconut;" I think that's one of my all-time favorites.

TT: Who's been the biggest influence in your life?
AC: I'd have to say my parents. They've really taught me that hard work pays off in the end. They've been so supportive of whatever I do and always encouraged me to follow my dreams. I also really look to my older brother and sister, so I guess my whole family has really influenced me more than anyone else.

TT: What's your specialty in the kitchen?
AC: I love to cook! I make some pretty good desserts. There's this trifle I make sometimes, with chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, whipped cream, and crushed up heath bars that's really good.

TT: What's one embarrassing story from your childhood that your parents like to remind you about or tell other people?
AC: Well I was kind of a tomboy growing up -- I had one of those really short haircuts that everyone used to have, and people always thought I was a boy. I think I was about seven or eight when I was at an Oriole game, and I walked into the bathroom and a woman told me that the "little boys room" was next door.
