FREEPORT, Bahamas - Shay Doron had 23 points and seven assists to help No. 1 Maryland rout Mississippi 110-79 on Saturday night in the Junkanoo Jam title game. The Terrapins improved to 7-0 on the season, their best start since he 1991-92 campaign.

The 110 points are the most scored on the road by a Terrapin squad since defeating Arkansas, 110-84, on Nov. 26, 1988. It also set a new tournament record.

Maryland ran out to a 9-0 start, before Ole Miss (5-2) got on the scoreboard. Mississippi hung around, keeping the lead within five on four different occasions. Leading 27-18 with 9:31 remaining in the game, the Terps began to pull away, going on a 16-5 run to jump ahead, 43-23, on a Doron three pointer with just over five minutes left to play in the half.

A pair of made free throws by Christie Marrone gave Maryland the biggest lead of the half, 54-27, before Ole Miss closed out the period on an 8-2 run to go into the half trailing, 56-35.

The Terrapins shot 64.5 percent in the half as Doron and Laura Harper led all scorers with 16 and 14 points, respectively. They also limited Wooden Award and Wade Trophy Candidate Armintie Price to zero points in the half.

In the second half, Maryland never let up, pushing its lead to a 29-point cushion just three minutes in. Ashleigh Newman's layup at 14:59 put the Terps ahead by the overwhelming margin of 72-42.

Late in the period, the Terrapins went out in front, by an insurmountable 40-point margin, 101-61.

With 53 seconds left in the game, Kristi Toliver's free throws tied and broke the tournament single-game scoring record, netting the Terps' 105th and 106th points of the game.

Harper scored 19 points and Langhorne had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the defending NCAA champion Terrapins, who had five players reach double digits. Both were named to the all-tournament team. Doron was selected the tournament MVP.

Alliesha Easley had 15 points for Mississippi and Shantell Black added 13. Price ended the game with just nine points.
