Women's Lacrosse Game At Virginia Tech Moved To Sunday

April 19, 2007

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The women's lacrosse game between the No. 2 Maryland Terrapins and Virginia Tech has been pushed back to Sunday, April 22 at the Virginia Tech Lacrosse Stadium. The ACC contest will be played at 12:00 p.m.

Maryland, in conjunction with the Atlantic Coast Conference office and member institutions, is showing support for friends and family of Virginia Tech who were victimized Monday by the deaths of more than 30 students and faculty on the Hokie campus.

Terps student-athletes will be issued orange and maroon ribbons for the ACC Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships which begin today at the Kehoe Track Complex at the University of Maryland. Ribbons will also be distributed to each school during the track and field competition.

In addition, the women's lacrosse team will support the Hokies by wearing special t-shirts during pre-game warm ups on Sunday. The shirts will don the Virginia tech logo on the front with the word "strength" on the back. The Terps will also give t-shirts to the Hokies to show their support.

The Maryland softball team will also compete in Blacksburg this weekend as they begin a doubleheader on Saturday at noon and then finish the series with a game on Sunday.

The idea to wear the ribbons with the Virginia Tech school colors was generated through the efforts of the ACC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the SAAC at each institution.
