Langhorne Named to Lowes Senior All-America Team

April 8, 2008

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland's Crystal Langhorne continues to collect postseason honors, most recently earning a spot on the Lowe's Senior CLASS All-America team, an honor created to pay tribute to college seniors.

Crystal Langhorne (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) was named to the first team, along with Candice Wiggins (Stanford), Sylvia Fowles (LSU), Jackie McFarland (Colorado) and Rebekah Parker (Evansville). On the second team were Princeton's Meagan Cowher, Kentucky's Sarah Elliott, LaSalle's Carlene Hightower, Georgia's Tasha Humphrey and George Washington's Sarah-Jo Lawrence.

CLASS is an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School. The honor identifies personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete, with criteria including excellence in the classroom, character and community, as well as, performance on the court.

Langhorne is a three-time Associated Press and United State Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-American and two-time Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-American. She was this season's ACC Player of the Year and was voted to the all-conference squad for the fourth-consecutive year, the first Terrapin ever to earn all-conference nods four times. Maryland's all-time leading scorer and rebounder, she had her jersey honored on Feb. 24, one of five Terrapins to ever earn the distinction.

The most decorated Maryland women's basketball player on the court, Langhorne has also been a model student. Graduating in May with a degree in communications, she is a two-time ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American. She was also selected the ACC Scholar Athlete for women's basketball this season, the first year of the award.

Maryland has had a Senior CLASS All-American for the last two seasons. Former Terp and WNBA player Shay Doron was a first team honoree last year.

Along with her teammate Laura Harper (Elkins Park, Pa./Cheltenham), Langhorne was invited to the WNBA Draft, which takes place on Wednesday, April 9 at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla.
