COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland acrobatics & tumbling team used a strong second half surge and the highest team tumbling score in NCATA history to rally for a win in its tri meet Friday night over Fairmont State and Azusa Pacific. The Terps' 289.565 beat Fairmont State's 286.275 and Azusa Pacific's 283.690.

The Terrapins also honored seniors Erin Cahill, Margaux Cooper, Karissa DePalma, Samantha Goldklang, Lindsey Kaufmann, Ally Martell, Lauren Shannon, and Alexandra Yannelli prior to the meet.

After trailing Fairmont at halftime, the Terrapins won all three second half events for the win.

Maryland took the first event, compulsories, with its score of 39.00, while both the Falcons and the Cougars earned scores of 38.80.

Fairmont State took the next two events to take the lead. First, the Falcons won acro with a 28.70 over Maryland's 27.75 and Azusa Pacific's 27.14. Although the Terrapins scored a 9.90 in the second pyramid heat, Fairmont pulled out that event with a 29.65 to Maryland's 29.50 and Azusa Pacific's 29.25.

The Falcons held a 97.15 going into the break, over the Terps' 96.25 and the Cougars' 95.19.

The Terrapins' score of 29.10 won the toss round over Fairmont's 28.65 and Azusa Pacific's 28.75.

The Terps' score of 58.48 in the tumbling round was the highest in NCATA history and beat their own record they set twice this season already. Azusa Pacific took second in tumbling with a 56.91 and Fairmont scored a 56.31.

In the team routine round, the Terps' 105.74 beat Fairmont's 104.10 and Azusa Pacific's 102.85.

Next, Maryland will close out the regular season at Fairmont State on April 13 at 7 p.m.
