Postgame Notes: Wisconsin 52, Maryland 7

MADISON, Wis. – Postgame notes following Maryland's 52-7 loss to Wisconsin.


 

Kicking It Off: Maryland fell 52-7 to the Wisconsin Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. With the win, the Badgers improved to 5-2, 2-1 in the Big Ten, while the Terps’ record fell to 5-3, 2-2 in the conference.

Road Streak Snapped: Saturday’s defeat snapped a five-game road winning streak for Maryland, which dated back to the 2013 season. It marked the longest road winning streak for a Terrapin team since Maryland won five in a row between the 2001-2002 seasons.

Streak Intact: With one catch for 21 yards, wide receiver Stefon Diggs extended his consecutive games with a reception streak to 26. It is the third longest streak in Maryland history, four shy of Torrey Smith for second all-time.

All-Purpose Diggs: Wide receiver Stefon Diggs finished with 163 all-purpose yards with 138 coming on kickoffs, 21 coming through the air and four on the ground. Diggs passed Louis Carter (3,704) for fourth on Maryland’s all-time list and now has 3,840 career all-purpose yards.

All Over The Field: Defensive back Sean Davis tallied 17 tackles marking a career-high for the junior safety. Davis’ previous career high came against West Virginia (9/13) earlier this season.

Sack Master: Defensive lineman Andre Monroe recorded one sack to increase his team-leading total to 6.5. For his career, Monroe now has 21.0 career sacks, which ranks third in program history.

Career First: Linebacker Jesse Aniebonam combined with linebacker Yannick Ngakoue to record Maryland’s second sack of the game. For Aniebonam, it was his first career sack. Ngakoue now has 4.5 sacks on the season and a team-leading 10.0 tackles for loss.

Offensive Notes: Tight end Derrick Hayward recorded his first career catch Saturday, a 27-yard catch-and-run … wide receiver Deon Long had six catches for 59 yards to lead all Maryland receivers. His six receptions are the second-highest total of the season for the senior.

Defensive Notes: Defensive back Jeremiah Johnson tied his career high with seven tackles  ... freshman linebacker Jesse Aniebonam set a career high with three tackles … defensive lineman Azubuike Ukandu registered the first two tackles of his career.
