COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Junior Brene Moseley scored a game-high 21 points off the bench and sophomore Brionna Jones added 17 points as Maryland defeated UDC, 118 - 61, Saturday night at XFINITY Center in the Terps’ final exhibition match.
The Terps shot 58 percent from the field and limited the Firebirds to just 22 percent in a game in which six Maryland players scored in double figures.
Maryland opened up the game on an 18-2 run and never trailed. In addition to Jones and Moseley, four other Terps scored in double figures: Shatori Walker-Kimbrough (16), Kiara Leslie (15), Laurin Mincy (12), and Lexie Brown (12).
“We were very aggressive and confident tonight,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “There were definitely some great things we took from this game and I think we are ready for the regular season.”
In the game’s signature moment, the Terps used full-court press to trap UDC’s Telisha Turner (22 points), steal the ball and convert the turnover into a Mincy layup to cap a 17-2 run.
The Terps’ bench outscored UDC’s 54-16.
